SPACES Degree College BBA students attended a student development program conducted by IBS-ICFAI Business School Visakhapatnam on 27th of July 2024.

Dr B.Shafiullah, faculty from IBS Bangalore led the session. The session titled "Campus to Corporate - Enhancing employability among graduate students” covered a broad spectrum of topics to prepare graduate students for the transition from academic life to corporate life. The program emphasized the importance of maintaining a professional online presence, continuous learning, adaptability, and teamwork, while also exploring personal and professional growth aspects such as individual values, behavior, and motivations. 
Additionally, it touched on marketing concepts, customer relations, and the impact of automation and technology on the workforce.
The session equipped students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and mindset to succeed in the corporate world and beyond.

Quiz competition conducted by Comp. Sci Department on World Wide Web Day

The Department of Computer Science of SPACES Degree College organized a quiz and crossword puzzles competition on 1st of August, 2024, to celebrate World Wide Web Day 2024. The event aimed to assess students' knowledge and understanding of the internet, application software, and related terminologies.
On 31st of July, a screening test was conducted for 16 teams, comprising multiple-choice questions related to computer science and internet technologies. The top 5 teams with the highest scores qualified for the final quiz competition.
The quiz competition consisted of 3 rounds:
Round 1: GENERAL ROUND
Round 2: TERMINOLOGY ROUND
Round 3: LOGO ROUND

All the 5 teams, demonstrated exceptional knowledge and skills in the field of computer science.
The quiz and crossword puzzles competition were a huge success, with enthusiastic participation from students. The event aimed to promote awareness and understanding of the internet and its applications, while encouraging students to develop their knowledge and skills in computer science. 
The winners and runners of the competition were applauded and received prizes distributed by Dr. A.K. Tripathy, IQAC Coordinator, Sri P. Ch. V. Subbarao, Vice-Principal, Mr. S.M.V.S. Kumar, HOD-Computer Science, and other faculties.

The Computer Science department of SPACES Degree College looks forward to organizing more such events in the future.

Scintillating performance by Degree Students in Quiz Competition

It is beyond the shade of doubt remarkable achievement that SPACES Degree College secured 3rd place in the mega Quiz Competition conducted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair, Andhra University. Visakhapatnam on the occasion of 78th Independence Day celebrations. The competition was conducted from 12-08-2024 to 14-08-2024 in three rounds. The objective of the conduction of the quiz is to connect the younger generations with Dr B.R Ambedkar’s vision nation’s freedom struggle. 
Over 5000 thousand teams participated in this competition and 20 teams were shortlisted for the second round. Significantly, the five teams made the way to the final round.
Nellipudi Devi, G.Satya Vijaya, G.Oormila Roy, P.Madhavi Latha, Venkata Sowmya from III MPCs  and V.Rajeswari, III B.Com represented from SPACES Degree College in this competition and secured the third place. Andhra University and Acharya Nagarjuna University stood the first and the second respectively.
Sri Ch.V. K. Narasimharao , Secretary and Correspondent, Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash, Joint-Secretary congratulated the students on their exceptional skills in quiz competition.

Blood Donation Camp – anyone can afford

On the occasion of 48th foundation day of Sri Prakash, a blood donation camp was organized by Rotract, NSS and NCC students of SPACES Degree College on 20th August 2024. 
Addressing the gathering, Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash, Joint Secretary, Sri Prakash Educational Institutions urged the students to give priorities in three areas such as Health, Knowledge and financially strong. These three areas could make someone as deserved to contribute to the society. 
Speaking on the occasion The guest of the day, Dr K.Satyanarayana said that there was shortage of blood in almost all hospitals and such camps would help the hospital authorities to meet their blood supply requirements and he praised Sri Prakash Educational Institutions for conducting noble activities on its foundation day. He expressed his happiness to be part of the programme. 
Sri D.Shiva Gupta, Director, Mother Blood Institutions, said that “blood donation is a selfless act that saves lives and exemplifies the values of compassion and service”.
A total of 63 units of blood was donated by Students and staff of Sri Prakash organization
In this august programme, Dean, Principal, Vice Principal, IQAC Coordinator, faculty and students were participated.

Topic Exploration Activity for Freshers @ SPACES Degree College

A Topic exploration activity was conducted to encourage critical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication among freshers on 1st August 2024.

Students were divided into teams of 6 members and were allotted a general topic.They were given a set timeframe to discuss and research their topic.
Teams presented their findings and insights to the class. 
Students demonstrated excellent teamwork and collaboration skills during the discussion and presentation.Teams showcased creative and innovative thinking in their approach to the topics.

Tower Building Activity for Freshers @SPACES

The tower building activity was conducted as an icebreaker session for freshers at SPACES Degree College on 23rd July 2024.

The purpose was to encourage teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills among the students while helping them get to know each other.

The students were divided into teams of 5-6 members and provided with newspapers.They were given a set time frame to build a tower that could withstand a slight wind test. The teams were encouraged to think creatively and work together to achieve the goal.

Students demonstrated excellent teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking skills.

Academic Year 2021-2024 Results

SPACES Degree College has successfully completed the academic year 2021-2024. It is a comprehensive document that provides an in-depth examination and interpretation of student performance data. This report enables to reinforce the standards of the college. It also helps to assess, understand, and make informed decisions based on students’ academic achievements. It is essential to analyse the results achieved by the students across various disciplines. This provides a detailed analysis of the academic performance highlighting notable achievements and statistics. Students from B.Sc., B.Com (Computer Applications) & BBA disciplines have excelled in their studies, achieving significant milestones.
Two of our students have shown their mettle in achieving the best ranks in Andhra University examinations.

Chy. K. Jayanthi from B.Sc. (MPCS) secured first position in Anakapalli district with 9.66 CGPA and Chy. B. Teja Sri from BBA program attained the second position in Anakapalli district with 8.57 CGPA. Overall pass percentages of the disciplines are as follows -
B.Sc. : 78 %
B.Com : 87 %
BBA : 83 %
The students from all disciplines have shown academic prowess. The results of SPACES Degree College has exhibited the institution's commitment to academic excellence. The achievements of students in all the disciplines, particularly the students who secured the district top positions, are a testament to the skill and dedication of hard work and the quality of education provided by SPACES Degree College.

World Youth Skills Day @ SPACES

On 15-06-2024, SPACES Degree College celebrated World Youth Skills Day. NCC cadets took the initiation to conduct the day in an enlightening way. The event showcased their commitment to fostering skill development among the youth, emphasizing its critical role in shaping future leaders.

NCC Cadets exhibited the theme of World Youth Skills Day - the theme for World Youth Skills Day 2024 is “Youth Skills for Peac and Development” emphasising the crucial role of youth in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. Against the backdrop of academic excellence, cadets and students alike passionately presented speeches that highlighted the significance of acquiring essential skills in life. Their words resonated with the audience, stirring awareness and emphasizing the importance of equipping oneself with relevant skills in today's competitive world.

The seminar not only provided a platform for learning but also underscored the NCC cadets' dedication to community service and leadership. It served as a reminder that investing in skills development today is key to unlocking a brighter and more prosperous future tomorrow.

The speakers presented the solutions and promoted youth skills in development of tackling unemployment and underemployment. It encourages investment in training and education, aiming to better integrate youth into the workforce.

International Anti -Drug Day- Awareness Rally

On 26th June 2024, SPACES Degree College collaborated with the Payakaraopeta Police Department to organize a rally in Payakaraopeta, marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event aimed to raise awareness among the local community about the grave consequences of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. NSS Volunteers, NCC Cadets and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Volunteers actively participated in the rally, which included forming a human chain at the Payakaraopeta town center as a symbolic gesture of solidarity and commitment to combatting these societal issues. This demonstration not only highlighted the importance of collective action but also underscored the role of youth in leading initiatives that promote social responsibility and community well-being.

 

Speakers at the event emphasized the need for prevention and intervention strategies to address drug abuse effectively. The collaboration between SPACES Degree College Service Units and the Payakaraopeta Police Department was instrumental in fostering a dialogue on these critical issues, encouraging proactive measures and advocating for a drug-free environment. Overall, the rally served as a platform for meaningful engagement, empowering participants to take an active stance against drug abuse and illicit trafficking while promoting unity and awareness within the community. Payakaraopeta C.I. Appalaraju Garu applauded the students and Management for their efforts towards the benefit of society. NSS Program Officers Mr. P. Bhaskararao, Mr. G.T. Naidu, NCC Incharges Mr. A.Lakshmana rao and Miss P.Surya Kumari and UBI Co-ordinator Mr. D.Manikyam led the rally of 200 volunteers.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the pervasive issue of child labour and advocate for children's rights to education and a safe, healthy upbringing. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, who marched through the streets with banners and placards, chanting slogans to end child exploitation. 

NSS Programme officer Mr. G.T.Naidu, NCC In-charges Mr.LakshmanaRao and Miss P.Surya Kumari guided the students in emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in eradicating child labour.
The rally urged the community to support initiatives that protect children's welfare. The event concluded with a pledge to continue advocating for the rights and dignity of all children.

World Environmental Day - 05.06.2024

On 5th June 2024, in commemoration of World Environment Day, the NSS & NCC volunteers from SPACES Degree College, Payakaraopeta, actively participated in a plantation program held at Anand Nagar Colony. The initiative aimed to contribute positively towards environmental sustainability and raise awareness about the importance of protecting our ecosystem.

The event commenced at 3.00 PM and saw the enthusiastic participation of 30 NSS volunteers and 30 NCC cadets from SPACES Degree College. The program objective was to highlight the significance of World Environment Day and the role of community engagement in environmental conservation.

The volunteers, armed with saplings of various indigenous plant species, embarked on a plantation drive across Anand Nagar Colony. With diligence and dedication, they planted saplings in designated areas. The volunteers took care to ensure proper planting techniques, emphasizing the long-term sustainability of the newly planted saplings.

The Plantation Programme organized by SPACES Degree College NSS & NCC volunteers on World Environment Day was a resounding success, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility!

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking @ SPACES

In advance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, an awareness session was conducted by Special Enforcement Bereau, Payakaraopeta , Anakapalli district in SPACES Degree College on June 20, 2024. Mr. John Prakash, Sub Inspector - SEB, addressed the students, focusing on the dangers of drug abuse, the impact of illicit trafficking, and the legal framework against these issues.

Mr. John Prakash explained what constitutes drug abuse, detailing various types of drugs commonly abused, including both legal substances like alcohol and prescription medications, and illegal substances like cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines. He discussed the psychological and physical effects of drug abuse, emphasizing the potential for addiction and long-term health consequences. Students were informed about the laws and regulations governing drug use and trafficking in India, including the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The role of drug inspectors and other authorities in enforcing these laws was elucidated.

The session stressed the importance of preventive measures, such as education and community programs, in curbing drug abuse.
Resources and support systems available for individuals struggling with addiction were shared, including rehabilitation centres and helplines.

The session, featuring an interactive Q&A, successfully raised awareness among students about drug abuse and illicit trafficking, promoting a drug-free environment. The college appreciates Mr. John Prakash's valuable insights and the students' active participation.

International Yoga Day @ SPACES

On 21st June 2024, SPACES Degree College, Payakaraopeta celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and participation from NSS Volunteers. The event highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being.

The celebration began with the arrival of experienced yoga instructors who guided the participants through various yoga asanas. The session was designed to accommodate both beginners and those more familiar with yoga practices, ensuring everyone could benefit from the experience.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in a series of asanas, demonstrating flexibility, balance, and concentration. The yoga instructors provided step-by-step instructions, ensuring that all participants could follow along and perform the asanas correctly. The session included a mix of traditional poses aimed at improving physical health, reducing stress, and enhancing mindfulness.

Following the practical session, all participants took a pledge to incorporate yoga into their daily routines and promote its benefits within their communities. This pledge underscored the college’s commitment to fostering a healthy lifestyle among its students and the broader community.
